Bekkers 2014 McLaren Vale Syrah. 95+.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Mclaren Vale Syrah gives a profoundly scented nose of plum preserves, blueberry tart and blackberry preserves over notes of Indian spices, beef drippings, menthol, licorice and cloves. Full-bodied and packed with taut, muscular fruit, it gives layers of spicy, perfumed blue and black fruit flavors supported by grainy tannins and finishing with a satisfying savory character. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW.
Bekkers 2014 McLaren Vale Syrah Grenache. 94.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Syrah Grenache leaps from the glass with expressive exotic spice and potpourri notes on top of baked black cherries and raspberry coulis notes, with wafts of anise and pepper. Full bodied, rich and seductively textured in the mouth, it gives layers of spice and berry preserves notes with a finish that just goes on and on. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW.
Bekkers 2014 McLaren Vale Grenache. 93+.
Pale to medium ruby-purple color, the 2014 Grenache reveals an array of berry and savory aromas, led by notes of kirsch, red currants and lavender over hints of game, tree bark, dried herbs, yeast extract and spice box. Full-bodied and exquisitely balanced, it gives tons of perfumed fruit in the mouth supported by velvety tannins and great freshness, finishing with wonderful persistence. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW.
