A mix of 52% Clarendon and 48% Seaview syrah/shiraz grapes. 15-20% whole bunches. Basket pressed to all-French oak, 48% new. Bottled unfiltered in November 2017.
Silken syrah. In some ways that’s all you need to know though it’s worth pointing out that it’s complex and lengthy; it’s not a one-trick pony. It’s beautifully fruited and balanced, it’s blackberried flavours spotted with anise, cloves, woodsmoke and cream.
It is both powerful and meticulous,
as Bekkers’ wines invariably are.
There’s tannin here but not a great deal; there’s enough. It is a beautiful wine.
