McLaren Vale has well and truly come of age when it comes to grenache. It has talked the talk for a long time; it’s finally walking it.

This is spiffy. Light but forceful, tannic but seamless. Oak is present but in no way dangerous. Tannin is as important as fruit. Mouthfeel is key. Fragrance up there. It’s McLaren Vale Burgundy, or a single variety expression thereof, as it was meant to be; earthen, well fruited, mid-weight, the main thrust of it on the finish rather than up-front.
